Introduction
In the state, the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) has been established under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Mumbai Public Trusts Act, 1950 for the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.
Through the DRDA, various schemes are implemented to raise the economic standard of the people below the poverty line. For this purpose, financial assistance is provided by the Central and State Governments. To ensure effective implementation of these schemes, a new action plan has been implemented as per Government Resolution No. DRDA 2003/File No. 1743/Scheme – 5, Ministry, Mumbai 400032.

Providing benefits to families below the poverty line through individual and collective schemes.
Handling loan applications for self-employment for families below the poverty line.
Developing model schemes to enable beneficiaries to increase their income by investing in or starting productive businesses.
